ABOUT US
Compassionate Nashville is the local chapter of the International Campaign for Compassionate Cities inspired by the Charter for Compassion, International. Its purpose is to to raise awareness of the benefits of compassionate action and encourage city leadership from around the world to create and bring together efforts towards increasing compassion through local initiatives, policy, and projects.
Compassionate Nashville's mission is to highlight, promote, educate and connect individuals and organizations in the Greater Nashville Area dedicated to increasing compassion in every sector of society. By forming partnerships, collaborating and connecting people, resources and organizations we endeavor to create a collective impact of compassion.
In July, 2013, Mayor Karl Dean sponsored a Resolution on Compassion as Effective Public Policy -- A decree that was approved by the U.S. Conference of Mayors in June, 2013. On September 10, 2013, Nashville's Metro City Council endorsed the Compassionate Resolution which makes Nashville an "official Compassionate City" according to the International Campaign for Compassionate Cities based on the Charter for Compassion.
