Special Thanks to Hands On Nashville for winning the most points for Nashville! Along with Seattle, Nashville gained special recognition for co-writing the new Compassion Games Theme Song! Among the Highlights were the Random Acts of Kindness Bowl, the “Welcome to Compassionville Community Art Project” and the new “Compassion Games Theme Song,” co-created by Nashville musicians! - Donate to Compassion Games Virtual Food Drive! 9/11 - 9/21 - Sermons on Compassion and Peace -Clergy and spiritual leaders of all religious traditions are invited to participate in the Compassion Games by creating sermons on peace and compassion between 9/11 and 9/21. Then report (# of people served) on the Compassion Map. The Charter for Compassion may be used as a reference. 9/11-9/21- Random Acts of Kindness Bowl -223 Donelson Pike. Pull out a random act of compassion from one2yoga and/or 223 donelson's “ Kindness Bowl” containing over 100 random acts. Commit to doing the kind act and posting their participation on the Compassion Map and share on Facebook. Each report on the map will earn Nashville one point. 9/11-9/21 - Compassionville Community Art Project Bringing Emphasis to our compassionate city by creating colorful “Welcome to Compassionville” signs. Art projects can be done individually or collaboratively. Post photos of signs on Twitter and Facebook, using #compassionville. 9/18 - Brewing up Business - Nashville LGBT Chamber of Commerce Attend Brewing up Business on Sept. 18th at Bass Berry & Sims. 150 3rd Ave S #2800, Nashville, TN 37201 to choose your act of kindness. You will be able to register for the Nashville CARES AIDS Walk/5K Run, donate to Just Us, sign up for Hands on Nashville Day of Service which is Sept. 20th, or draw from a large selection of random acts of kindness. The main focus of the evening will be networking, but these opportunities will be available.
9/20 – Hands On Nashville Day: Saturday, Sept. 20, 8 a.m. to Noon. Registration Thursday, Aug. 28th. 37 Peabody Street, Suite 206, Nashville, TN. Hands On Nashville Day is the community’s largest day of service to Metro Nashville Public Schools. For this event, HON places hundreds of community volunteers at 50-plus public school sites to complete painting and landscaping projects. Through your service, healthier and safer environments are created for children and families. Each fall, Hands On Nashville Day saves Metro Schools time and money, while providing community members an opportunity to directly support public education through volunteerism. Hands On Nashville Day 2013 connected a record 2,300 volunteers to 63 school sites. Let’s make it bigger this year and earn point for Nashville in the 2014 International Compassion Games! 9/21 - The Music City Alliance for Sound & Music Healing hosts"I Am An Instrument of Peace & Compassion Open Mic."Howard Congregational (UCC), 2802 Buchanan St, Nashville, Tennessee 37208, 2:00 to 3:30 PM. Raise up your voices and instruments through sound, music, spoken word, poetry and improvisational art. The gathering will start promptly at 2pm with a special selection of words and music and then shift to an open mic format (see event page below for details). All performers and attendees will be counted towards points for the Compassion Games. So whether you are called to share or just be present for others, please come, raise your voice and be an instrument of peace and compassion in the world.
